Sizzling Wok - Asian Cuisine - City Max Hotel, BurDubai

So here I am for lunch at Sizzling Wok, BurDubai. When i saw the Chinese dragon on the outside I was a little hesitant but I am glad I did try their food cause it's been a good one to know. The ambiance was nice. We sat next to this wide aquarium filled with big fishes which we enjoyed watching while we had our massive lunch. It all started with drinks and Soups:

[caption id="attachment_831" align="aligncenter" width="705"]From left ( Fruit punch - Dhs 25, Mojito - Dhs 35, Watermelon - Dhs 25) From left ( Fruit punch - Dhs 25, Mojito - Dhs 35, Watermelon - Dhs 25)[/caption]

I had their signature Mojito(Fresh mint leaves, lime wedges, freshly squeezed lime juice, white sugar, topped with soda water) while my wife ordered the Fruit punch(A combination of pineapple juice, Orange, Mango and a dash of grenadine). I enjoyed their mojito to the end of my lunch. Normally these mojitos taste their best at the first sip but here to my surprise it tasted as good as the first sip till the end. Maybe it's because it had less ICE in it.

HOT POT soup - Asian broth of prawns, chicken, beef and vegetables. I loved their soup specially those little bit of interesting items(veg dumplings, prawns, chicken, brocolli..etc) that was discovered inside the soup. The ingredients were special and there is no let down here ;)

Appetizers:

Some of the items we tried were:

DIM SUM - steamed dumplings with yanglo sauce
Yakitori - Grilled chicken skewers cooked with Teriyaki sauce
Chinese Spring roll - House made spring rolls served with sweet chilli sauce
Drums of heaven sizzler - Crispy chicken lollipop tossed in sticky garlic and chili sauce

Drums of heaven sizzler is supposed to be their signature item. That's one item they would recommend you all the time. The chef was telling me that after trying different combinations for many years he believes this is the right recipe for chicken lollipops. I love the way it sizzles on the table on arrival. You really want to have them when you see it. My son's favourite was Yakitori. He made the most of it. From Dim sums, I enjoyed the Veg and Prawn out of the 3(seafood, chicken and veg). For Vietnamese spring rolls they use spring roll sheet instead of rice paper sheets.

Maincourse:

Malai chicken curry - I actually couldn't find this in their menu but this again is chef special. Main ingredients would be chicken and coconut milk.
Goong Makaram - King Prawns wok fried in a Thai tamarind sauce with roasted cashew nuts.
Pad thai noodles - Flat thai rice noodles with peanuts, bean sprouts and green onion.
Sizzling wok special fried rice - Chinese style mixed fried rice with prawn, chicken, egg and green onion.

The pad thai noodles was flavored well. It had all the necessary taste in it to make it a good order.
It looked to me that had used basmati rice for sizzling wok fried rice but then again it comes loaded with all that prawn, chicken, egg and green onions :)

Desserts:

Tropical Fruit Skewers served with orange and coriander syrup
Rice and Coconut pudding

Tropical fruits skewers was surely a dessert to finish with at Sizzling wok. The magic is all on that syrup on top of it.

The one speciality I noticed about Sizzling wok is that they could make you anything and it wouldn't be too spicy or too sweet. Just the right amount you need to enjoy :) Click on a picture and enjoy viewing them with description.

Half Chicken – Dhs 60, Ribs and Rumps – Dubai Mall

part of half chicken – Dhs 60

I know it's strange to start with chicken at Ribs and Rumps. The chicken impressed me more than their steak burger hence the chicken won the poster highlight. Many restaurants sell these full size chicken now a days but these guys make it tasty here. A little bit about the items:

Half Chicken - Dhs 60 - Char grilled with Chef's spices and basted in their secret house basting or plain grilled with chef's special blend of herbs and spices.

Steak Burger - Dhs 66 - 150gm prime fillet steak grilled to perfection and served on a fresh burger bun with all the trimmings. Made from 100% pure beef and grilled to perfection with their special spice and sauces. All burgers come with a side which by default is original crispy fries but you can always swap it with other sides such as garlic rice, corn, steamed vegetables..etc

The steak burger was presented very special. With that king size knife on top of that burger. Probably the presentation of that burger went so high and my expectations went even higher. But the steak wasn't as impressive as I thought. Maybe their expertise lay on ribs and rumps which I didn't try :(
I must agree when it comes to birthday wishes they deliver with a punch effect! Its not the usual waiters coming around and singing happy birthday but instead they celebrate with their traditional African beats. It was interesting to see.
